WWF From Madison Square Garden – April 8, 1981

We finally return to Madison Square Gardens for a huge house show. Tonight we’re headlined by Bob Backlund defending the gold inside the Steel Cage against the Lariat Stan Hansen! That could be phenomenal. With only just under an hour shown, it looks like the preliminary matches are missing, we’ll see what those are later. Let’s go to the ring.

WWF All Star Wrestling – February 28, 1981

Finishing off the month of February, we start a new taping cycle. These shows were taped on the 25th of February, as usual in Hamburg, PA. Last week we saw Sgt Slaughter again challenge Pat Patterson to the Cobra Clutch Challenge, which Patterson said he wasn’t ready for. WWF All Star Wrestling – February 21, 1981

Last week we saw the final appearances of both Jim Duggan (0-8-0) and Hulk Hogan (19-0-0). Both men will return to the WWF in the future, but for now we move on. Tonight is the last of this taping, and we have Sgt Slaughter and Angelo Mosca in singles action, among other things. Let’s go to the ring.

WWF All Star Wrestling – February 7, 1981

Last week we had a six man tag and a Cobra Clutch Challenge take place. Jim Duggan was unable to survive the Cobra Clutch and did not win the five grand. Tonight someone takes the chance, as we open a new taping cycle. Also scheduled for tonight is Stan Hansen in action and more. Let’s go to the ring.

Last week we saw a great tag team match with Martel and Garea defeating the Baron and Jose. This week I don’t the feature tag match will be as good with Moondogs face Denucci and a new partner. Also tonight is Jim Duggan versus Stan Hansen, which could be interesting. Let’s go to the ring.

It’s time for the first new taping of 1981, in Hamburg, PA as usual. Wonder how long till we move to a new locale, been here for a long time? Hopefully it’s an updated opener too, as tired of seeing Putski, Andre, etc but I feel like that isn’t happening. With this being a new taping rotation we might some new blood tonight, but we know for sure we are seeing the tag team Champions, Rick Martel & Tony Garea. Let’s go to the ring.

Last week we saw a lot of destruction from the Moondogs, Hulk Hogan and Killer Khan as they annihilated their respective opponents. Tag Champions, Tony Garea and Rick Martel, had a good match with Baron Mikel & Ron Shaw as well. This week we are joined by Stan Hansen who will face Jim Duggan, plus SD Jones returns and Killer Khan in action. Let’s go to the ring.

We made it to the end of 1980, and what a fun journey that was. Tonight’s episode finishes out the year, and what a year. My next post will be a recap of 1980 including my pick for Match of the Year, based on only what was show on these shows. I’ll also list the wrestler with the best win/loss ratio, most matches and most wins and losses. I plan to do this for each year as we go along, plus later years we’ll compare the years. I hope this goes as good as it seems in my mind. Anyways, let’s finish the year as tonight’s show is headlined by Hulk Hogan facing Jim Duggan in a match I would never have expected. After crowning new tag team champions last week we move along. I assume the Samoans are gone for a while and now Albano builds up his Moondogs as the dominant heel team. Tonight we have the return of Sgt Slaughter plus another Rick McGraw match. Let’s go to the ring.

WWF All Star Wrestling – November 15, 1980

Just a few more episodes remain of 1980 before we enter a whole new year. Before the first episode of 1981 I will be doing a special review of the year with most match, most wins, most losses and best and worst match of the year. I’ve made a spreadsheet of all the matches recapped for 1980 and keeping track of wins and losses so I can see who’s the best of the year from the TV shows. I plan to do this for each year, hopefully, and thus giving a nice ending for the year. As far as the missing All Star episodes go we missed a number of debuts including the Moondogs, Stan Hansen, Killer Khan and Ernie Ladd. Sadly those episodes are forever lost to time, so we march on.
