WWF All Star Wrestling – October 17, 1981

Last week on All Star Wrestling, Greg Valentine tried to end the young career of Curt Hennig with the Figure Four and tossing him from the ring. This injured Curt, who suffered a dislocated kneecap, but he will return. This week we have Andre the Giant in action plus a handicap match with Angelo Mosca and a debut! Let’s go to the ring.

Vince and Pat welcome us to the show, as this is the start of a new taping that took place three days earlier. They talk about the debut of Jesse the Body Ventura, who claims to have the greatest body. Pat says there is something off about him, also tonight we will see Pedro Morales and Don Muraco in action!

1. Don Muraco v. Lee Wong

Don is still your reigning, defending Intercontinental Champion, as he is accompanied by the Grand Wizard. The crowd all over Muraco before the match starts, as he grabs Wong and slams him on the top turnbuckle. Muraco just hammers away at Wong, who’s had no offense since the bell rang. Tombstone piledriver gets the quick easy three.

2. Pete Mitchell v. Pedro Morales

Before the match starts, Gary introduces Bob Backlund to the crowd. Bob comes out and shakes hands with everyone in the ring and leaves. Pedro easily takes Pete over with an armdrag, Pete gets him to the ropes and forearms Pedro. Pedro chases Pete out of the ring, Pete cautiously gets back in and rakes the eyes of Pedro. Slap across the face from Pedro, as he’s had enough of Pete. Pedro hammers Pete and grabs his beard, the ref makes him break. Pedro backdrops Pete and follows with a slam and a backbreaker. This is the slowest Pedro has ever moved, as it’s one move and stand around. Pedro with a pair of sledges to the stomach and Boston Crab for the win.

3. Angelo Mosca v. Angelo Gomez & Johnny Ringo

Mosca just tosses the two jobbers around the ring with ease. Mosca stomps and smashes away on Gomez and Ringo. Both men get slammed down, and Ringo tossed out, Gomez gets pounded away on. Mosca pins Gomez then tosses him out as Ringo gets in the ring. Mosca cracks Ringo and then goes after Gary.

Patterson ringside with Tony Atlas and SD Jones, as they have formed a tag team. Atlas says they decided to work out together and become a team. SD says he’s had many tag partners before but Tony motivates him like no one else, and someday they will be the champions. Patterson asks about Fuji and Saito, and Tony says they been together a long time but they can beat them. Fuji and Saito won the gold four days earlier from Garea and Martel. SD says they are ready for the gold.

4. Greg Valentine v. Jerry Johnson

Valentine in blue this week, quickly goes after Jerry but gives a clean break. Greg takes out the leg and begins to work the shoulder of Jerry. Valentine with a back suplex and drops an elbow across the chest, he follows with a second one and gets three!

5. Ron Shaw v. Andre the Giant

I don’t like Ron’s chances in this match, as Andre towers over Shaw. Andre sends Shaw to the outside, and Shaw slowly gets back in. Andre with a side headlock takeover and Shaw tries to tie up Andre, but Andre just tosses him aside. Andre begins to work over the back of Shaw with headbutts, Shaw backed into the corner and Andre crushes him. Shaw rakes the eyes and nails Andre with forearms, Andre comes back with a headbutt and butterfly suplex. Sit down splash on Shaw finishes the match.

5. Andre the Giant annihilated Ron Shaw

6. Tony Atlas & SD Jones v. Moose Monroe & Johnny Rodz

Rodz and Jones start with Jones outwrestling Rodz, Rodz slaps Jones and tosses him across the ring. Jones sent in and nailed with a knee to the midsection, but Rodz misses a legdrop. Atlas tagged in and works the shoulder of Rodz and tags in SD. Rodz catches SD and tags in Moose who unloads on SD but SD comes back with headbutts and tags in Atlas. SD and Atlas with quick tags to work over the massive Moose, all four men in the ring but the ref quickly restores order. Moose drives SD into the boot of Rodz, and Rodz enters via the top rope. SD quickly comes back with chops and tags in Atlas, Rodz begs off but Atlas unloads. Rodz rakes the eyes and slams Atlas down. Moose tagged in and tries to slam Atlas, but Atlas blocks and press slams the monster. That’s enough for three.

6. Tony Atlas & SD Jones beat Moose Monroe & Johnny Rodz

7. Mike Mahaiko v. Jesse Ventura

Ventura managed by Fred Blassie, comes out with feathers all over and Vince has no idea what to make of him. Ventura puts the mask and boa on Blassie who poses proudly. Jesse quickly works the arm of Mike and uses the tights to take him down. Big slam from Jesse and he drags him to the corner to pound away before shooting him to the opposite corner. Mike shot off the ropes and caught in the bearhug for the win.
