WWE Superstars – October 27, 2011

There won’t be a ROH recap for the October 22nd episode, as I have yet to find a watchable version. So, instead let’s recap WWE Superstars for this week. First though, thoughts on RAW, it was boring and predictable. They have completely blown the Rock’s return, it was going to be a big for Wrestlemania, but now it’s just a tag match on Survivor Series. Not even a five on five, just a regular tag, how pathetic is that? So we’re supposed to buy Miz and R-Truth, two guys who could not defeat Air Boom two months ago, as a threat to Super Cena and Rock? Seriously, it’s obvious that Cena and Rock will win, and the show will end with them face to face. As for the rest of RAW, HHH and Nash’s segment was long and boring, and how much TV time does John Laurinaitis need? He’s getting into Dixie Carter or Eric Bischoff territory now, but unlike like Eric, JL has no charisma or promo ability. Although I have to say I did enjoy this NXT, other than the boring main event, which we’ve seen how many times now? Any show that gives Tyson Kidd, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins and the Usos TV time, I approve of. I may have to start recapping NXT to make up for not wasting time on RAW/Smackdown, although this week’s RAW with the Muppets could be fun. I just hope we see Kelly Kelly get beaten down by Miss Piggy this week, that would be some classic comedy, and let Statler and Waldorf do commentary. It would be like Mystery Science Theater 3000, still the coolest show of all time by the way. Anyways, enough rambling, let’s get to Superstars.

1. Cody Rhodes v. Ted DiBiase

Cody has had a bad week this week losing to Orton on Sunday and then losing a tag match to Orton and Sheamus, so he really needs a win here. Rumors are swirling that Cody will be feuding with Booker T soon, which might be a good thing for Cody, as long as he doesn’t get humiliated. Keep Cody as far from Blandy Orton as possible, Orton is dragging down Cody’s talent. These two have amazing chemistry however, and never disappoint. Ted has the early advantage, as Matt Striker calls himself a nerd, but Cody fights free and hits that perfect dropkick. Cody winds up outside and Ted follows, but Cody catches him and goes for the Beautiful Disaster, however Ted counters and both men are down as we go to commercial. We come back and Cody is pounding Ted in the corner, but Ted turns it around. Love it they mentioned 20 years ago both men’s fathers captained teams against each other, actually it was twenty one years ago. At the 1990 Survivor Series, which was when the Undertaker made his debut accompanied by Brother Love. Cody hits a nice front suplex on his former tag partner and gets a near fall. Cody continues to beat down Ted, and yells out he’s the champion, and I had a Mountie flashback just then! Ted starts to fight back, but Cody catches him in a sleeper. Ted fights out and hits the clothesline and a running knee to the face for a near fall. Cody shoots him in, but Ted catches him in the spinebuster for another near fall. Ted makes the sign to unmask Cody, but Cody catches him with a headbutt using the mask. Cody climbs the ropes and hits a perfect moonsault, amazing looking, but only a near fall. Cody snaps off Cross Rhodes for the victory after a fantastic match. Excellent match between two of the best young stars in the WWE.

1. Cody Rhodes pinned Ted DiBiase after Cross Rhodes 8/10

2. Ezekiel Jackson v. Jindar Mahal

I know I’m in the minority, but I really like Ezekiel Jackson. However much like Sheamus he is much better as a heel, when you’re that big you should be the bad guy. I don’t know about Jindar, he has moments of brilliance, maybe he’ll do better without Khali. Jindar had a great match last week with Ted DiBiase, where he scored a win, can he build a streak against the monster Jackson? Jindar able to outsmart the bigger man and uses the ropes to weaken Jackson down. Jindar gets caught charging in the corner and Jackson with a pair of corner clotheslines. Jackson hits a pair of slams and goes for the Rack, but Jindar blocks. Jindar gets caught coming of the corner in a body splash right into the Rack and Jindar taps out. Not a bad match, although most people won’t enjoy it since most of the IWC doesn’t like Jackson.

2. Ezekiel Jackson beats Jindar Mahal via submission using the Torture Rack 5/10

3. Air Boom (Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne) v. JTG & Primo in a non-title match

I can’t believe JTG and Primo still have jobs, especially JTG. This is the definition of a squash match. Kofi quickly hammers JTG and uses his speed to keep JTG down before tagging in Evan. Evan plays face in peril as usual, before making the hot tag to Kingston who unloads on Primo. Remember when Primo was being pushed with Carlito? JTG breaks up the pin and Evan sends him to the floor. Kofi hits the Trouble in Paradise followed by Evan’s Air Bourne for the easy victory. Basically just a quick TV squash match, but not as bad as it could’ve been as Primo was in for majority.

3. Air Boom defeated JTG and Primo 3/10

4. Kelly Kelly & Eve v. The Bella Twins

Seriously, we’re having a diva tag match as the main event? I’m so sick of Kelly Kelly and Eve, they are so annoying and useless in the ring. WWE really needs to sign some real talent to feud with Beth and Natty. At least the Bella Twins look fantastic, as always and have one of the best entrances since Melina’s old MNM entrance. Eve quickly takes down one of the Bella Twins and follows up with a booty shaking standing moonsault, well that looked hot at least. However the Bellas able to fight back and use cheap tactics to get the advantage. Eve tries to come back with a sunset flip, but Brie blocks and drops a knee across the shoulder of Eve and tags in Nikki. Nikki locks in the hammerlock on Eve, but Eve breaks the hold with a Samoan Drop and tags in Kelly. Kelly takes out both Bellas and uses her phenomenal lung power as she begins her yelling offense. Kelly with the stink face, I hate that stupid move, but one Bella takes her down. Even takes out one Bella as Kelly hits the K2 on the other Bella for the win. Well, it could’ve been a lot worse, of course Kelly has to win.

4. Kelly and Eve defeated the Bella Twins 6/10

1. Cody Rhodes pinned Ted DiBiase after Cross Rhodes 8/10

2. Ezekiel Jackson beats Jindar Mahal via submission using the Torture Rack 5/10

3. Air Boom defeated JTG and Primo 3/10

4. Kelly and Eve defeated the Bella Twins 6/10

Wasn’t the greatest episode of Superstars, but was still better then RAW. That doesn’t take much anymore, but could’ve done with out the tag matches. Would’ve rather seen a good Tyson Kidd match, or Daniel Bryan, or Tyler Reks, etc. It was what it was, and nothing more. Have a Happy Halloween, back next week with possibly RAW, if not NXT.

How long is the WWE going to bury Ted Dibiase? Also, I think Cody Rhodes is the best thing going in the WWE right now… especially given how CM Punk is starting to become “just another face”.
