The Week in Review – January 25 – 29, 2010

After an absolutely horrid week of wrestling last week, all the shows stepped it up this week. There was the usual crap with D-X, but the shows were worlds better this week.

Matches of the Week

1. John Morrison v. Drew McIntyre from Smackdown 4.5/5
2. Ezekiel Jackson & William Regal v. Kane & Christian from ECW 4/5
3. Yoshi, Goldust & Hurricane v. Zack, Trent & Caylen from ECW 4/5
4. Shawn Michaels v. Rey Mysterio from Smackdown 4/5

Worst matches of the Week

1. Big Show v. MVP from RAW 1/5
2. Gail Kim v. Alicia Fox from RAW 1.5/5

Surprisingly a good week for TV leading to tonight’s Royal Rumble, which I am looking forward too. I give show of the week to ECW for having two great matches and no crap this week.

Monday Night RAW averaged a 2.5/5 for six matches in two hours. This was not a bad show this week, at least the useless guest host didn’t wrestle, and no Hornswoggle makes for a better show. The Diva tournament can only be called a disaster as the matches have been bad so far, and I assume the finals are this Monday.
ECW on SyFy averaged a 4/5 for two matches in an hour. Yet another amazing episode of ECW this week, as they did nothing bad, and put on one of the best TV shows in a long time. Let’s hope they can keep the momentum.
WWE Superstars averaged a 3.5/5 for three matches in an hour. A very good episode of Superstars, as even the Bella Twins pulled off a good match this week. I always like Superstars, but one complaint for this week was the lack of a match for ECW, instead we got a Chris Jericho promo.
TNA Impact averaged a 3.75/5 for five matches in two hours. I’m not counting the Red/Williams match since it only lasted a few seconds really and was not really a match. TNA pulled their asses out of a bad spot, and put on a very good show. After last week’s horrible show, this was a welcome change. Hope they can do it again next week.
Friday Night Smackdown averaged a 3.75/5 for four matches in two hours. I didn’t like the fact they changed the tag title match, but what we got was very good. I was surprised with this, as I figured the first two matches were going to be horrible, and they were actually good.

All in all, a very impressive week for TV, and they made up for the previous week. I hope tonight’s Royal Rumble is as good as I expect. Rumble Recap should be up tomorrow afternoon, enjoy the show.

Here’s the Morrison/Drew match
