The Week in Review for December 28, 2009 – January 3, 2010

Well, we end 2009 with a four hour episode of Impact featuring the knockouts and one of the best show’s I’ve ever seen. The wait is almost over, as the biggest Monday night in wrestling since the Monday Night Wars is almost here. Let’s get the final week of 2009 finished!

Best matches of the week

1. Hamada v. ODB from Impact 4.5/5
2. Hamada v. Roxxi from Impact 4.5/5
3. Zack Ryder v. Tommy Dreamer from ECW 4/5
4. Melina v. Alicia Fox from Superstars 4/5
5. CM Punk v. Matt Hardy from Smackdown 4/5
6. Hamada v. Madison Rayne from Impact 4/5

Worst matches of the week

1. Kofi Kingston v. Miz from RAW DUD
2. Kofi Kingston v. Miz from RAW DUD
3. John Cena v. Sheamus from RAW DUD
4. The Great Khali v. Carolina Panther from Smackdown DUD

The show of the week has to be hands down, TNA Impact. What an amazing job they did as they really made their women look great and one of the best tournaments on TV. Hamada gets special mention as she did an awesome job of having 3 of the best matches of the week in one show.

Monday Night RAW averaged a 1.25/5 for seven matches in two hours. This just goes to show more is not better. Three matches were DUDs on Raw and only match got more than half way to a five. WWE once again puts on another lackluster RAW, hopefully this week’s RAW with Bret will be better.

ECW on SyFy averaged a 3.25/5 for three matches in an hour. A great episode of ECW capped off with a touching goodbye from Tommy Dreamer.

WWE Superstars averaged a 3/5 for four matches in an hour. The worst match was Archer/Benjamin but otherwise a great episode. This would’ve been better if they’d scrapped that match and given more time to the women’s match.

TNA Impact averaged a 4/5 for eight matches in three hours. Technically there were eleven matches, but I didn’t include the three matches of the year, but just did the knockout portion. As I said in my recap this proves an all women show can work if done right, this was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

Friday Night Smackdown averaged a 3/5 for seven matches in two hours. Same amount of matches as RAW, but much better quality. Wish the Morrison/McIntyre match would’ve been better.

Overall this was a pretty good week of TV, other than RAW which as always sucked badly. This Monday night should be a great night as we have three hours of TNA and Monday Night RAW. Raw is hosted by Bret Hart and also we got D-X v. Jerishow and the Hart Dynasty will be at the show. TNA has the debut of Hulk Hogan, plus the rumors of RVD & Angelina Love. Should be a very memorable night on both shows, I hope.

Here’s the ODB/Hamada match split in three parts, enjoy

and here’s Hamada/Roxxi match as well
