WWE Survivor Series 2011 – November 20, 2011

Honestly, with WWE’12 staring me in the face right now, I have even less interest in this show then before. Really there is only two matches I care about, and both involve Dolph Ziggler, so I don’t think is going to be my favorite PPV of the year. I don’t care about either title match nor the “big main event”, don’t like Cena and was never a fan of The Rock, Miz and Truth are just supporting players in this. So, let’s get this over with so I can get back to WWE’12, of course the Wii gets the crippled version as always, no create an arena feature, but at least I can push Dolph and Morrison to the top, where they belong. Can’t wait till I get my PS3 repaired or replaced, so I can get the better version of WWE’12. Read more…

WWE Superstars – November 3, 2011

Following a very goofy episode of RAW featuring the Muppets and a lackluster NXT, that brings us to Superstars. First comments on RAW, the Muppets were entertaining but the rest of the show was just your typical boring garbage. The whole Rock promo was lame and stupid, as they spoiled it by airing the commercial advertising the Rock and Cena teaming during the previous PPV. Anyways, does Miz and Truth look like a challenge to them? Cena basically beat both guys this week, and killed what little interest there was in the PPV, would it have killed Cena to get beat by Miz this week? As for NXT, I tried to recap but the opening segment with JTG killed the show. Why does this man have a job and Vladimir Kozlov, Chris Masters, Maryse, etc do not? The release of Maryse is especially annoying because WWE really has no talented females other then Beth and Natalya, Maryse could’ve worked well with either one instead of Eve and Kelly Yelly. At least they can’t screw up Superstars, I can’t see Cena or Orton ever working this show, so thus keeping Superstars as the better show. Of course it won’t be better then ROH this week, but nothing can top that. Read more…

WWE RAW – October 10, 2011

After last weeks horribly bad episode of RAW, which featured 3 squash matches, one non-match and a very good main event, we ended with one of the oddest angles I’ve ever seen. Basically everyone walked out of RAW, other then the golden children, including Divas, referees and the announcers. Then everyone is on Smackdown, with the lame excuse being HHH is not on Smackdown. So, is HHH the COO of the entire company, or just RAW, if just RAW does that make him the anonymous GM or are we supposed to forget that? This angle has plot holes you could drive the Millennium Falcon through, as last night RAW they said the locker rooms were empty. So are we getting two hours of HHH, Cena and Orton tonight? Or maybe they can pull some legends out for some goofy matches, Sheik, Duggan, Muraco, Slaughter, etc? The biggest problem is that we have a PPV in two weeks, and once again no matches announced as far as RAW goes. That’s the problem with so many PPVs, there is no time to build anything as they have to burn through the story so they can have another PPV. Also next week is the much hyped RAW from Mexico, which means they have to finish this storyline tonight, so ADR can be on the show next week. That was the whole point behind putting the title on ADR. I’m starting to think the WWE is booking on a napkin each week, as the storylines make as much sense as TNA lately. I can’t wait to see how they fix this mess, I expect Vince back ASAP. Let’s see how WWE gets themselves out of this mess, and maybe we can have a match announced for the PPV? Read more…

WWE RAW – October 3, 2011

Coming to us only 24 hours removed from Hell in a Cell, it’s Monday Night RAW. Tonight we have a huge 12 man tag team match, which would be better if it was elimination. Also the fallout from last nights PPV, as we open with Randy Orton coming to the ring. Read more…

WWE Hell In a Cell – October 2, 2011

With only two weeks of buildup from the previous PPV, Night of Champions, tonights show looks like just a series of rematches. I think two weeks just is not enough time to build a PPV. They would’ve been better off canceling this show, and waiting till Vengeance, which is in three weeks. I expect by the end of the show all three golden children of Vince, Cena, Orton and Kelly, will win/retain the gold. Personally they should have kept the belt on CM Punk, instead of switching it to Del Rio so quickly. He was a paper champion, who got no respect or opportunity to do anything with the title. It seems like they put it on him just to move it back to Cena, which did nothing but put us right back where we were before the Cena/Punk storyline. It’s too bad, because the had a chance to do something amazing with the CM Punk saga, and instead they wasted it by adding in HHH and Nash, who should not be on TV at this point in his career, and then made Punk lose to HHH. There is just so many things that the WWE has done wrong recently, but the one thing they were doing right, up until the last Smackdown, was Mark Henry. Unfortunately they blew it on Smackdown by having Orton RKO the champion, which was a huge mistake. The whole story of Henry destroying Orton was working, but then Orton had to get back his heat, aka the fifty-fifty booking that is killing the business. They should have left Henry as the big unstoppable monster, at least till the Rumble, instead of letting Orton hit his finisher so early in the story. It’s too bad we have a PPV and no Ted DiBiase, no Cody Rhodes, Tyson Kidd, Tyler Reks, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Miz, Truth, etc. Although they may have added Air Boom versus Team Vickie, but it was not announced before the show, so going in we had a huge group of talent left off the show. Anyways, let’s get to the PPV and hope for something good to come from it, like Henry, Beth and Punk walking out with the belts. Read more…

WWE Superstars – September 29, 2011

It didn’t take long for the WWE show to get too boring to bother recapping. After only one week, I’ve had enough of the WWE/TNA shows, and there’s really not enough worth remembering. So, for the foreseeable future I’m only going to recap PPVs for TNA, since I don’t watch Explosion. I’ll also do ROH and some other shows. With a PPV only two weeks ago and another one tonight, there really is no build and little interest in it. I remember when the Hell in a Cell matches meant something, now, much like ladder matches, it’s just another gimmick match thrown on PPV for a cheap attempt at a buy rate. Anyways, let’s get to the only bearable WWE show at this point, Superstars. Read more…

WWE RAW – September 26, 2011

Only eight days removed from Night of Champions PPV, and six days from Hell in a Cell PPV, comes this week RAW. I don’t want to get off on a rant here, but who thought it was a good idea to have two PPVs two weeks apart anyway? Then three weeks later we get another PPV, Vengeance, so in a five week span we have three PPVs, just a little overkill Vince. Over five weeks the writers have to come up with 9 hours of PPV and 30 hours of television, not counting how many rewrites they have to do. No wonder the writing is so bad, these guys are burned out from all this. I still say it was better when we had four PPVs a year, at least they meant something back then. Of course we didn’t have the champion on TV every week back then either. Nowadays we see Cena every week on TV, always overcoming the odds, and every PPV. I’d like to see them go back to the four PPV model, and make the lesser shows like the old Clash of Champions, recaps coming by the way, on free TV on Saturday nights. Keep the champions off the regular shows, let them work the dark match for the live audience, but make seeing the big stars a special treat. I don’t know, guess I’m just stuck in the old style of wrestling, much like Jim Cornette, but it worked for so many years. Well, enough ranting about how the eighties was better, it just was, let’s get to Monday Night Cena. Read more…

WWE RAW – September 19, 2011

Coming off a surprisingly good PPV, in terms of match quality, with some poor booking decisions it’s time for RAW. I guess we’ll hear from Triple H, who’ll continue to bury CM Punk, and John Cena, who once again miraculously overcame the odds last night to claim his 20th title or so. Does it even matter how many times he wins the belt anymore, seriously, he’s going to wind up in Lawler territory before his career is over. Let’s hope they can do something to salvage CM Punk after the debacle of last night. It’s pretty sad when the only person who truly got over in that match was HHH as he overcame Punk, Truth, Miz and Nash. Maybe we can get a match for tonight of Punk & HHH versus Miz & Truth, but instead it’ll probably be HHH beating both by himself. Well, let’s see what the WWE tries to do this week.

Night Of Champions – September 18, 2011

It’s been a while since I posted anything here, need to get back to the SHIMMER DVD’s soon. I thought I’d do a review of last night’s PPV. I’m trying a new way of recapping the shows, instead of play by play, just a few points on each match. Makes it quicker to post and read, so I hope this works good. So, let’s get to the opening match. Read more…

WWE Superstars – April 22, 2010

What a week this has been for the WWE. They were trapped overseas and the RAW crew wound up missing this week’s tapings, right before a PPV. Personally I’m impressed Vince didn’t force them to row a boat back to the US, considering his treatment of the wrestlers. Due to this happening we had RAW is Smackdown on Monday night, and what could’ve been an amazing opportunity to showcase some of the younger talent instead became a complete waste of time. We had Undertaker defeat the new champ, Jack Swagger, who has yet to score a win since winning the belt. Triple H and Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk and Chris Jericho, as Punk continues to be the best jobber in the company. Oh, and of course the usual stupidity as the WWE blew up R-Truth, but he was back the next night on NXT with no mention of the explosion. I don’t understand how anyone could’ve watched RAW and said it was a good show, it was pathetic, and that’s the last mention of RAW in this recap. Then last night we get the announcement of seven releases, Jimmy Yang, Slam Master J, Mickie James, Katie Lea, Mike Knox, Funaki, Shelton Benjamin as the WWE continues to screw up royally. I don’t understand how these seven could be released yet the WWE keeps the Bella Twins, Rosa Mendes (yes I like Rosa, but not as a wrestler), Kelly, Mark Henry, Kane, Cryme Tyme and Rey Mysterio. Yang and Slam are two exceptionally talented young stars that are horribly misused. Same can be said for Mike Knox, this man could’ve been a huge monster ala Kane or Undertaker an instead became the next Giant Gonzales as they could never figure out how to use him. Mike has the size, talent, ability and charisma to be a main event player, but leave it to the WWE to drop the ball. Speaking of dropping the ball, Shelton Benjamin, how the hell is this man not a main eventer? Seriously, he is easily the most talented man in the entire WWE and consistently puts on great matches every week. He came in the WWE with a huge push as he beat Ric Flair and Triple H, then became a member of Team Angle, and after that fell apart, nothing happened to him for the last five years or so. Funaki is one of the elder statesmen on the WWE, having been there since 98, and has always been horribly undervalued by the WWE. He has charisma and talent as well, but never was given a chance to show his skills. Katie Lea is an excellent female wrestler, watch her matches from OVW, but never got an opportunity in the WWE. Once Paul Burchill was released last month the writing was on the wall for Katie, and now she’s gone. Mickie, Mickie, Mickie what the hell is the WWE brass smoking to release her? I don’t know what the hell is wrong with this company, it seems the more talent you have the less they like you. Mickie is one of the last great female wrestlers in the company, and has been treated like shit for the last six month. WWE had a great opportunity to use her music career to push her into the mainstream, but instead they released her weeks before her CD comes out. Sound familiar? They did the same thing to Maria; however Maria was always lacking in her wrestling ability but made up for it with her charisma. Mickie’s release basically finished off the women’s division as the only one left that they use is Beth, but I think her days are numbered. I expect we’ll see more releases in the coming weeks; Jillian, Carlito (after NXT fails), Primo, Gail, Kozlov, Barreta, Croft, and Ziggler are probably going to be next. The only good thing about these releases is I expect we will see some of them in TNA, mainly Mickie, Katie, Knox and Shelton. This will give us some really fantastic matches at least, Abyss versus Knox, Morgan versus Knox, AJ versus Shelton, RVD versus Shelton, Katie versus Angelina, and Mickie versus Daffney. So with a PPV coming up this weekend, which I really have no interest in, there probably won’t be a recap of that show. Basically at this point, Superstars is the only WWE show I plan to watch/recap anymore, while the PPV will basically be fast forwarded through (other than Jericho/Edge). So let’s get to the only WWE show worth watching anymore, Superstars.
