WWF All Star Wrestling – February 14, 1981

Last week on All Star Wrestling we saw the debut of Angelo Mosca who destroyed his opponent. Captain Lou Albano challenged the tag champions, Rick Martel & Tony Garea, on behalf of his Moondogs for a title match. When and where we get this match hopefully we find out soon. Tonight a new tag team is formed as Fred Blassie combines the Hangman with Killer Khan, can he find the success that Albano has with teams? Let’s go to the ring. Read More »

WWF All Star Wrestling – January 31, 1981

After a surprising appearance from the World Champion, Bob Backlund, how long till we see him again. I’m guessing not till the house show we have in April! Last week Hulk Hogan destroyed two men with ease, and tonight he tries it again. How long till he gets three guys at once? Also tonight someone tries to break the Cobra Clutch and earn the big money, can it be done? Let’s go to the ring. Read More »

WWF All Star Wrestling – January 3, 1981

Welcome to a new year for the World Wrestling Federation, as we enter 1981. Coming off the heels of a great year end episode last week, with the debut of SD Jones, plus victories for Moondogs, Sgt Slaughter, Stan Hansen and Hulk Hogan. We enter a new year and tonight we’re headlined by an appearance from the new WWF Intercontinental Champion Pedro Morales. Let’s go to the ring. Read More »

WWF All Star Wrestling – December 27, 1980

We made it to the end of 1980, and what a fun journey that was. Tonight’s episode finishes out the year, and what a year. My next post will be a recap of 1980 including my pick for Match of the Year, based on only what was show on these shows. I’ll also list the wrestler with the best win/loss ratio, most matches and most wins and losses. I plan to do this for each year as we go along, plus later years we’ll compare the years. I hope this goes as good as it seems in my mind. Anyways, let’s finish the year as tonight’s show is headlined by Hulk Hogan facing Jim Duggan in a match I would never have expected. Let’s go to the ring. Read More »

WWF All Star Wrestling – December 20, 1980

Last week we saw Ken Patera come to the ring, but without the Intercontinental Championship. On December the 8th 1980, Ken Patera lost the Intercontinental Title to Pedro Morales in Madison Square Gardens. Ken was only two days shy of breaking Pat Patterson’s record of 233 days as champion. Pedro becomes the third Intercontinental Champion and also the first person to ever hold all three WWF Titles, World, Tag and Intercontinental. A record that would stand for twelve years before someone else pulls it off. Now with so many belts winning three titles means nothing, but back in 1980 this was a huge deal. Titles meant something and title changes were big deals, not props being passed around with little to no meaning. Anyway, on tonight’s show we get the return of Hulk Hogan and the Tag Champions in action. Let’s go to the ring. Read More »

WWF All Star Wrestling – July 19, 1980

For some strange reason they have the wrong episode for July 5th as instead it’s from the following year, so I guess we’re skipping to July 19th instead due to July 12 missing. Just a weird little mess here, but we march on. We’re slowly coming to the big Showdown at Shea show, which is another thing missing from the Network for unknown reasons as it was on 24/7 back in the day. It’s too bad as the show featured Andre versus Hulk and Larry Zbyszko versus Bruno Sammartino in a cage. I’ve been unable to procure a copy of the show, but we still have lots of All Star. Let’s go to the ring. Read More »
