WWE Superstars – April 29, 2010

This show is getting harder and harder to find every week, it’s bizarre. I can find everything else the WWE puts out the next morning, and even Smackdown the day before, but this show is usually not posted till late Friday. Anyway, after a very lackluster PPV and a long and boring draft that saw the annual rape and pillage of the Smackdown roster, which brings us to Superstars. First though, the PPV, surprisingly the matches all went the way I wanted instead of the way I expected, other than Batista and Cena, but that doesn’t count. It just felt like the matches were thrown together, which most of them were, and without the blood it really didn’t feel like an Extreme PPV. I still think the WWE needs to go back to TV-14 or even M for PPV, and stay PG for TV. PPV’s are purchased by adults, not kids, and can go the extra mile and be a little more risqué than the TV shows. Well, that and cut back on the damn things, we don’t need 12 PPVs a year, its overkill. Speaking of overkill, suddenly I feel like I’m on Wrestlecrap Radio, which brings us to RAW. I think the idea of a three hour PPV and then a three hour RAW the next night was just too much. By the end of RAW I was bored and just burned out, it’s too much. The draft was very boring and uneventful, other than the Hart’s winning the tag belts. I really expected them to try and stack Smackdown before it moves to the new network, but they did the opposite and pillaged it to nothing. Taking Edge, Morrison, Jericho, and Truth to RAW and giving Smackdown Chavo, Hornswoggle, Masters and MVP was a massive mistake. Chavo is a jobber for life and will probably be as long as he stays in WWE, Hornswoggle just plain pisses me off, Masters sucks worse than Big Daddy V and MVP is just there. MVP was great when he first came in, but the massive losing streak they did with him just killed him and he has never recovered. Well, anyway let’s get to Superstars as I have three SNME’s to recap this weekend to finish the series off before Monday. Read more…

WWE Superstars – April 1, 2010

I still have Smackdown to watch after this, so let’s not waste any time and let’s get this show on the go.

1. Kofi Kingston & MVP v Zack Ryder & Carlito. Tonight we play make random tag teams and hope for the best, why not. At least Carlito is getting TV time. MVP & Carlito start the match, and MVP goes after Carlito’s rookie. MVP pushes Tarver and Tarver pushes back but MVP then slugs him. MVP slides in as Carlito goes to calm down his rookie who wants in the ring. Carlito finally gets in and they lock up, MVP with the side headlock. Carlito shoots him in, but MVP comes back with a shoulderblock and hiptoss. Carlito backs up as MVP poses, and Tarver giving advice to Carlito? Carlito gets back up and quickly hammers MVP and sends him to the corner, but MVP jumps over and comes back with a clothesline. Zack tagged in and comes in the hard way, as MVP flips him in and hits the shoulderblock. MVP drops the balling elbow on Ryder and waits for him to get up, but Carlito pulls him out. Kofi and MVP hit a double baseball slide as we go to commercial.

Monday Night RAW – March 29, 2010

Well, here we are twenty-four hours removed from Wrestlemania 26. Last night at Wrestlemania Bret Hart got his revenge after thirteen years on Vince McMahon. Jack Swagger scored the surprise of the night, winning Money in the Bank. Shawn Michaels career came to an end after being Tombstoned for the third time by Undertaker. John Cena regained the World Title for the 6,245th time, or it just feels like it. OK, so it wasn’t all good news, but it was a surprisingly good show. Of course with Cena as champion, again, we’re going to have to hear the same tired crap. Seriously, can Cena try and freshen up his spiel?

Friday Night Smackdown – March 19, 2010

Tonight’s the second to last episode of Smackdown before Wrestlemania, and as it stands so far we have no diva matches at the PPV. This needs to be fixed immediately, not that they’d get sufficient time to put on a good match. Besides the fact that the two best female wrestlers are currently injured and won’t be at Wrestlemania, Melina & Mickie, it makes it hard to find a match that might be good. I expect them to do a tag match of some sort, probably won’t be announced till next week’s Smackdown. If they do a tag match it’ll probably be Michelle, Layla & Melina against Gail, Eve & Kelly. They really need to unify the titles and just move all the divas to RAW, there’s just not enough to warrant two titles. Also it seems like the Smackdown title match is being shunted lower and lower each week, as they’re now talking about the three main events of Wrestlemania being Cena/Batista, HBK/Undertaker, Bret/Vince and not Edge/Jericho. Personally I’m more interested in seeing Edge and Jericho then the other three matches, as both men can put on a great match, but I’m betting it gets the least amount of time of the four matches. Lots of guys so far not scheduled for Wrestlemania, wonder if we’ll get the return of the dark match battle royal? Mark Henry, Khali, Kofi, Tatsu, Regal, Jackson, Kozlov, Archer, Hart Dynasty, Cryme Tyme, Masters are all unscheduled for the big show. That’s a lot of guys not getting a Wrestlemania bonus, so I’d be surprised if they don’t do a battle royal this year. Well, let’s focus on tonight’s episode of Smackdown as I only know one match tonight, McCool & Layla versus Tiffany & Phoenix, which I guess means Phoenix is now a good girl? She’s better off as a tweener feuding with everyone and attacking random people, but at least she gets TV time. Maybe if they can do an eight diva tag for Wrestlemania and add Vickie to McCool’s team and Phoenix to Gail’s team. Let’s be real optimists and make it elimination, let it go about twenty minutes and end with McCool and Beth, with Beth winning and uniting both belts into the real Women’s title! Never happen, but would be nice.

Friday Night Smackdown – March 12, 2010

Well, it’s been a pretty lackluster week of WWE programming so far. It’s really making me miss ECW, at least that could be counted on for a good match or two. With only 18 days till Wrestlemania, the WWE really needs to step it up and make the show look exciting. Right now Wrestlemania is a one match show for me, Edge versus Jericho, and maybe the MITB match. Everything else just does not impress me, Taker and Shawn won’t live up to the lofty expectations of the IWC and Shawn won’t stay out forever. I bet if he loses he’s back by Survivor Series or whatever they’re calling the November PPV now. Anyways, let’s get Smackdown finished and hope for a better set of show next week, as it will be kicked off with Stone Cold on RAW!

Friday Night Smackdown – March 5, 2010

As we rapidly approach Wrestlemania in three weeks and also the possible renewal of the Monday Night Wars, first we have to make our way through Smackdown. Last week Edge speared Chris Jericho again and said that he was all Jericho could think about, and that Edge was in Chris’ mind constantly. Also last week CM Punk was screwed out of his opportunity to win the Money in the Bank match for the third time as Rey Mysterio cost him his match. Tonight will Jericho or Punk get the opportunity to strike back at their oppressors, or will they fall again.

WWE Superstars – February 25, 2010

Before I get to tonight’s Superstars I just want to touch on the newest WWE show, NXT. I didn’t expect much from the show, to be honest, and was pleasantly surprised. It was actually a very good show and had a couple good matches and one squash. We can see in the first episode who’s the breakout stars will be, the one who won his match in seconds and Daniel Bryan. I expect we’re going to build to Bryan v. Miz at Summerslam, but doubt Bryan wins. Michael Cole attacking the internet was the first time he was actually entertaining and glad to see Matt Stryker and Savannah. All in all this was very good first outing, and maybe it will be a good replacement for ECW. Guess we’ll wait and see what the next couple episodes bring. For now, let’s get to Superstars, which looks like it should be a good show.

Friday Night Smackdown – February 19, 2010

With three days till Elimination Chamber, I hate that name for a PPV, we have one final show to go. Tonight on Smackdown our main event is Batista v. Edge, in Edge’s first match back since the Achilles Tendon injury. Should be an interesting match. Not sure what else was taped for the show, so let’s see what we get. Read more…

Friday Night Smackdown: It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no wait…it’s just Punk jobbing again!

Friday Night Smackdown – February 12, 2010

Last week on Smackdown we learned who the five were that will enter the Elimination Chamber and face the Undertaker. Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, CM Punk, Chris Jericho and John Morrison made it past the qualifiers and will be in the better of the two Chamber matches. At least this match has four workers who can carry the two cripples, as opposed to the RAW Chamber, which basically has one guy who has to carry a paper champion, one who’s not ready yet and three who’ve had too many title shots. Anyways, tonight on Smackdown the Undertaker will face Chris Jericho in what should be a good match. Remember when it was the first match between them, about a month ago? That first encounter should’ve been saved for a PPV with a nice slow build, but of course WWE doesn’t do things that way. It’s all a matter of build, push and ends a feud within four weeks, which really makes it hard to get behind anyone. When they do the long feuds they do it poorly, Hornswoggle v. Chavo, we’re looking at you. Read more…
