WWE Smackdown – April 10, 2012

We have a special edition of Smackdown this week, since the WWE Wrestlers are headed overseas. There is a number of legends scheduled to make appearances tonight, so that should make for a fun show. Hopefully better then the trainwreck that was Raw this week. So without further ado, let’s head to the arena for a live Smackdown.

We open with the same promo from RAW showing all the legends scheduled to be on the show, best of all is Roddy Piper. Wish they had Michael Hayes on here too, and put Gene on commentary. First thing we get on the live show is a recap of AJ being kicked to the curb by DB, and tonight DB is on the Piper’s Pit, that is awesome! Piper’s Pit should be a permanent thing on Smackdown, as Lillian introduced the great Mene Gene, did he ever have hair??? Read more…

Wrestlemania XXVIII – April 1, 2012

It’s that time of the year for Wrestlemania, so I thought I’d join the hundreds of other who do a recap of the show. Wasn’t a lot I was looking forward to on this show, but the atmosphere always makes up for the poor product. The whole PPV has basically been built around Rock/Cena and HHH/Undertaker with a little emphasis on Teddy/JL, everything has been treated like an afterthought. I’m not going to do a play by play recap of each match, just a little thought on each. After the long recap of the March Madness tournament, a shorter recap seems like a good idea. With that, let’s get to the show. Read more…

WWE Superstars – December 15, 2011

This has been a long week of WWE programming, as there is twelve hours of shows this week. I don’t know who decided to have a three hour RAW, Tribute to the Troops and the PPV all in the same week, but this is what you call overexposed. The Slammy Award three hour RAW was horrible, as expected, and once again no Brodus Clay. I have no idea what goes through the heads of the writers of WWE, they hyped him up and then postponed his debut for weeks, and now no mention of him. It seems weird that we have a PPV on Sunday and no John Cena match, I couldn’t be happier about that, although they still have Smackdown and during the show even to add him in. It was nice to see the return of Classic Kane this week, hopefully he gets a nice final push before sliding into retirement, he deserves it for how long he’s been with the company. Anyways, before we get to TLC we have Superstars to enjoy, as long as there is no JTG match, so let’s see what underutilized stars we get this week. Read more…

WWE Superstars – December 8, 2011

With ten days until the TLC PPV, we finally have the main event announced this week. Which means that on next week’s RAW they have build up a PPV main event, but of course the entire focus will be on the Slammy Awards. That’s one of the biggest problems with WWE, is there is never any build up to the PPV matches, and they pretty much feel meaningless. Everything just feels rushed as we hurry from one PPV to the next, with no build and really no blow off to anything. This week on RAW we got a John Cena versus Zack Ryder match, which would’ve meant something had it been built properly, and would have been a great start to a more heel like Cena. The whole segment reeked of useless, as the premise was basically if Cena wins he’s in the main event but if Zack wins he gets a US title match with Dolph. Cena of course wins the match, and then argues with JL that Zack deserves a title match. Cena then gave up his title shot to get Zack a second chance, which of course led to Zack facing Mark Henry. Cena then got involved, hit the AA on Henry so Zack could win. Thus making Cena look like a hero by helping Zack, but basically showing that Zack couldn’t win without Cena. If Cena was so hell bent on getting Zack a US title match, why didn’t he just lay down for his friend? He gave up his title shot anyways, so it wouldn’t have made any difference to the end result. We all know Cena can get the title whenever he wants, so he really didn’t need the win, it’s all so confusing. Speaking of confusing that brings us to NXT, aka the show that never ends but never gets anywhere either. This season has gone longer then the first three combined, and no end seems to be in sight. The only advantage is at least Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins and The Usos get TV time, but as for Curtis and Bateman, who cares. At least we still have Superstars, to make this worth watching. Let’s hope we get some great matches this week. Read more…

WWE Superstars – November 24, 2011

After another mediocre PPV and a boring RAW, we finally get to the only worthwhile show of the WWE. Last week we had three good matches, would’ve been better with more time, but everything has to be stopped for the Rock. Now I don’t want to get off on a rant here but, this pathetic considering he probably won’t be back till around the Rumble, however Rock and Cena is about the only thing the WWE cares about. Over on RAW we did have two interesting videos, one for the return of Kane and one which doesn’t say who it’s for. Some people say Jericho and some think Undertaker, I’d rather it was Jericho as Undertaker should stay gone. He hasn’t had it in a long time, and his last match with Triple H was one of the worst Wrestlemania matches ever. Instead of focusing on Kane and whoever returning, why not focus on building the young stars. The guys they should be promoting, pushing and building consistently are Tyson Kidd, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Tyler Reks, Brodus Clay and Trent Barretta. I didn’t include John Morrison on that list because it looks like his WWE days are over as of next Monday, which is probably the best thing for him. After the spectacular stunts he did at the Rumble and Elimination Chamber they should have pushed him to the top right away, but he got hurt and then forgotten. Typical of WWE with the start/stop pushes of guys, I expect this week on RAW Punk drops the belt to ADR and then regains it at TLC. They have to keep their 50/50 booking style intact and can’t let anyone get over more then Cena. Anyways, forgetting the boredom of RAW, not hard to do, let’s just enjoy Superstars. Read more…

WWE Superstars – November 17, 2011

Coming off the heels of one of the most boring episodes of RAW, three hours felt like six, it’s time for Superstars. I don’t know why they even bother with those three hour RAW episodes, they’re painful to sit through. If this was supposed to sell people on Survivor Series I think it failed. If Miz and Truth were able to beat down Cena and Rock it might have worked, but instead it was another beating for Awesome Truth. It’s already been established that Cena can beat both guys by himself, so why does he need the Rock? What is Rock’s motivation to team with Cena, he’s had no interaction with Truth or Miz really. A brief period before Wrestlemania with Miz, but that seems so long ago it really doesn’t matter. And what is Miz and Truth’s motivation for the match, they’ve been humbled by Cena so many times, does anyone even think they have a chance, unless Cena and Rock implode. As for the rest of the card, if Punk wins who cares, it’ll just lead to another rematch with ADR either Monday or next PPV, if ADR wins then what? Another match with Cena? Punk again in December? It feels like the whole company is just spiraling around the toilet with the only thing the bookers care about is Rock and Cena. It just seems like they’re wasting so much talent. One last thing about Series, I expect Morrison wins the title thus getting him to sign a new contract, doubt they want him going to TNA. Vince may claim TNA is not on his radar, but I bet it burns him up each time TNA scoops up someone formerly of WWE and uses them better, see Matt Morgan. Whatever, let’s just enjoy Superstars. WWE Superstars – November 3, 2011

Following a very goofy episode of RAW featuring the Muppets and a lackluster NXT, that brings us to Superstars. First comments on RAW, the Muppets were entertaining but the rest of the show was just your typical boring garbage. The whole Rock promo was lame and stupid, as they spoiled it by airing the commercial advertising the Rock and Cena teaming during the previous PPV. Anyways, does Miz and Truth look like a challenge to them? Cena basically beat both guys this week, and killed what little interest there was in the PPV, would it have killed Cena to get beat by Miz this week? As for NXT, I tried to recap but the opening segment with JTG killed the show. Why does this man have a job and Vladimir Kozlov, Chris Masters, Maryse, etc do not? The release of Maryse is especially annoying because WWE really has no talented females other then Beth and Natalya, Maryse could’ve worked well with either one instead of Eve and Kelly Yelly. At least they can’t screw up Superstars, I can’t see Cena or Orton ever working this show, so thus keeping Superstars as the better show. Of course it won’t be better then ROH this week, but nothing can top that. Read more…

WWE Superstars – October 20, 2011

Tonight’s episode of Superstars is coming to us from Mexico City, Mexico, same as Raw, NXT and Smackdown this week. RAW was lackluster at best, and really forgettable. Once again John Cena won, as he teamed with Jim Ross to defeat Alberto Del Rio and Michael Cole. Cena picked the stipulation for this Sunday’s match with ADR, Last Man Standing. So, once again Sunday John Cena gets to overcome the odds and win the title for the thirtieth time, or whatever number he’s at. NXT is the show that never ends, as we have no pros left, two rookies, one who joined halfway through, and the same matches each week. Will the season ever end? As for TNA, I read the spoilers for Impact, and it’s a surprise, but I think it’s a good surprise. Of course certain people will complain no matter what TNA does, so they can’t win no matter what they do. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and hope that this is the start of something good. Back to WWE, we have yet another useless PPV this Sunday, which got next to no build. Can you tell they’re in autopilot until the Rock returns? It doesn’t look like a very exciting PPV this Sunday, but I’ll still recap it on Monday, but first let’s enjoy the best WWE show, Superstars. WWE Superstars – October 13, 2011

Coming off what has to be considered the single worst episode of Monday Night RAW, we come to Superstars. This week’s RAW was a horrible display of the main event and the rest, as HHH, Punk, Sheamus and Cena basically buried the rest of the company and proved that they are they only guys that matter. It’s a sad thing when that looks like our team for Survivor Series, plus the Rock, and no one is on their level so it’s an obvious fact who will win. I don’t think there will be a RAW recap next week, as the show has hit the bottom, unless something big happens, otherwise I’ll stick with Superstars and maybe Smackdown. As far as NXT goes, is there even a point to the show anymore? We’re down to three rookies, who have no pros, one rookie is gone due to a wellness violation, and one only joined half way through the season. We’re devoting time to JTG, the Usos, Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins, and pretty much no mention of an end to this season. I’m not complaining about giving time to Reks, Usos or Hawkins, especially Reks, but I could do without seeing JTG, and any show that gives us AJ is watchable by me. Sadly I was more entertained by NXT then I was by RAW, and I expect Superstars to be the better show of the week, however, supposedly we’re getting a battle royal on Smackdown, so I’m looking forward to that. With that, let’s see what matches Superstars give us. Read more…

WWE RAW – October 3, 2011

Coming to us only 24 hours removed from Hell in a Cell, it’s Monday Night RAW. Tonight we have a huge 12 man tag team match, which would be better if it was elimination. Also the fallout from last nights PPV, as we open with Randy Orton coming to the ring. Read more…
